Reflection on Process
In high school I took a circus class and in that class the teacher taught us how to write a cover letter and a resume. That was the first time I had ever done something like that and it was a really cool experience. But after learning more about cover letters and resumes from this class it turns out I didn’t know that much to create a good cover letter and resume. I haven’t written a resume for a job yet and I’m expecting I will have to in the near future so I have enjoyed learning about what to put and what not to put in your cover letter and resume. The most important information that I have learned so far is AIDA (attention, interest, desire, action). It has been the most helpful thing to create and revise my cover letter thus far. This may sound stupid but I never realized that you should state why you are interested in the job. It is such a simple and easy thing to add which is why I was kind of surprised I never thought about adding it. But this experience of learning about how to write them, then writing one and have a peer workshop, and then revising my cover letter has been extremely helpful.
